Strange Fruit, San Antonio Botanical Garden

I still do not know what this free-loading vine is.  It had grown up the backside of Paliurus spina-christi (Christ Thorn) and produced these wonderful spiked cages for it's ruby-red fruits.

I would really love to find out what this plant is. I've seen it in Australia (Brisbane) and one other photo on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/monceau/3148996534/ which I think was taken there at San Antonio. The plant looks like it is in the same family as the choko vine (sechium edule). I will bookmark this page in case you post a response. Thanks very much.

I really wish I could figure out this plant too. I have contacted San Antonio Botanical Gardens but have not yet gotten a response. If I do figure it out I will be sure to let you know!
Thanks

By sheer coincidence, I've just found out that this is passiflora foetida.
