Folksy Animals

These bold paper mache animals are "envisioned as spirits of animals rather than actual animals made with refuse of human civilization."  They are made in Japan (or now possibly Portland?) by Mumbleboy, also known as Kinya Hanada, and are available at his Etsy shop, Mumbreeze. The gallery link on his website takes you to some fantastically extensive flickr photo sets filled with stunning pieces that are definitely worth looking through. He also has a pretty interesting blog

Wonderful beaded animals made by disadvantaged artisans in Cape Town, South Africa, available at the Museum of New Mexico Foundation.
